Quads

I would do the exact same thing if I had Asian quadruplets. ( source ) "My sons are identical...even to me" -their mother If that's not maternal love, I don't know what is.

Garden of the Gods

(just so you know, there is a law and order marathon on right now. and i am watching it.  just like my poem suggested. truth) Last week I went down to Colorado Springs to see what all the hype was about. My grandparents lived down there for years, so it wasn't my first time in the Springs, but it was my first time in downtown CO Springs.  I had no idea there was so much down there; I was just used to going to the local Home Time Buffet or KFC. After going to lunch with an old man attorney named Jimbo, NW and I hit up the Garden of the Gods. It was pretty. Here are some pictures.  (do you see Mario and Luigi?  they were visiting from italia) (these two did a real good job at holding up balancing rock. kinda) It was a pretty (rock) solid day.

Thoughts on a dissertation

Some call it a thesis.  Some call it a dissertation. I call it a life-ruiner.  Or a time-consumer.  Or a problem child.  Or trouble. But whatever the name, it is finally finished. I wanted to dedicate an entire post to my dissertation being finished, because it took a long time.  And it deserves it. Thus I will express my thoughts on the dissertation via poem.   (because its saturday night and what else am i supposed to do? i don't have a dissertation to worry about anymore so i'm sure my poetry will flourish): Academic Writing Academic writing is finally over, The capital of Delaware is a city named Dover. Joe was a senator there, but that doesn't matter, This poem is about English and how immigrants chatter. In English not in their native tongue, Because they want to live in England where they might get the black lung. I wrote and I wrote and I wanted to cry, But my library friends helped me not actually die....

Tacos

Warning: This is a whole blog post about tacos. (hey guys! i'm done with my dissertation. which means life got way mo' betta.  it also means more consistent blogging. which we are all grateful for-amiright?) Last weekend I went with a couple of my funniest friends on a self-proclaimed "Taco Tour". Spoiler alert: I felt sick the next morning.  But it was still totally worth it. Denver has a lot of great options when it comes to eating, especially when it comes to eating tacos or other Mexican delicacies. My friend Alisa went and found some of the best hot spots (or, some sketchy taco places) via the always impressive internets and planned our route. Four taco stands. Ten tacos. Ok, so the goal for everyone wasn't ten tacos.  It was just a personal goal.  Because I'm disgusting. And not just any tacos.  I wanted to expand my taste buds.  New taco?  I'll try it. The first place we went was in Mi Pueblo superm...

Romantic

This was posted on Twitter: I'm not even looking at the Obamas; the guy on the right caught my eye. (is this obsession getting too creepy?) (maybe) (but seriously the first thing i saw was Joe and i thought, "yeah, this is for the romantics)

The Eldest

My oldest brother David graduated last weekend!  Boom. It was really nice to go out and see him make it official.  And he even spoke at the RN Pinning ceremony. What a guy. We are real proud/happy/excited that he gone done it. And of course, some photos: (his kids are the best) The family said this would end up on the blog, and they were right.

Hello, Update

My dissertation is coming along nicely these days.  I've hit my word count minimum, allowing me to think that anything from this point on is just gravy on the mashed potatoes that are my paragraphs on the effectiveness of English language classes for immigrants.  Delicious, am I right? Those are the kinds of things I want to write in my actual paper, but as we all know, it is most definitely not sophisticated enough.  So I am sticking to basic boring formulaic sentences and vocabulary.  I'll send a copy to anyone who wants it.  In case you run out of Ambien one night.  I'm a giver. Other than that, I've been spending some time thinking about the VP candidates and how Joe is still my #1. I mean, ok. It's a tough D.  P.D. (fun fact: i read on wiki that Paul Ryan used to go by P.D. because his dad is also named Paul, but he hated it when it morphed into "Petey") is a young, good-looking, two-first named man.  I mean, his hair alone ...
