In high school I took a shower every day. Even when I had to be at show choir practice at 6:30 am, I would wake up at 6:15 am, hop in, and go.
But ever since then, I've changed my ways. It's a challenge for me to see how long I can go without showering. I know it's disgusting and I probably smell, but I just don't like showering. It's great about every 5 days, but more than that we're calling it extreme.
I don't know when or why this started, but I think it might have been when I moved to the dorms my freshman year and had to share 4 showers with 35 girls. It was just easier to forgo a shower than fight for one. I'm a peacemaker.
Now, I'm sure some of you are wondering how this influences my dating life. One would think "hey, the smelly girl in the corner of the room probably hasn't been asked out for awhile-i wonder why..." I would think the same thing too if I didn't have first hand experience of the opposite.
Yeah, it's true. Not showering has only helped my dating life.
My sophomore year of college (lib square anyone? where dreams come true) I was really relishing the no showering option. I would wake up and ask myself "Do I stay in bed for 15 more minutes, or do I shower?" Answer: bed. The answer should always be bed. Anyways, there was a time when I actually did not shower for 4 days. I was disgusting. I admit it. My hair was all nasty (but i wore a hat so nobody noticed?) and I'm sure I had a tainted scent.
In those 4 days I got asked out on 3 dates.
Now, there could always be the pity factor (oh look at cindy-it's like she doesn't even care about the world anymore-i'll change that for her) but I'd like to think my natural pheromones were just more obvious.
And that is my confession. I should write a book about dating and include this as its own chapter.

So do you think if I didn't shower the rest of the week (i'm on day 2 right now), I would have a date by the weekend? Or should I have started earlier? Was showering Tuesday morning where I went wrong?
